Flower Arranging Day

Wish me luck and say a prayer for me today. I love fresh flowers so much but these shoots are intimidating. I have buckets and buckets just waiting to be arranged and placed. They are so beautiful but we left home on Monday and we are shooting on Wednesday. Oh PLEASE still look fresh. Heck, just please still be alive! eek

(Thank you Pinterest for the lovely images of what the back of my van looked like)

Offer: Trip Of A Lifetime

Do you love to paint?

Or have you always wanted to learn how to paint?

Do you love the outdoors and jaw-dropping scenery?

“Imagine yourself on the bank of a wild and scenic river corridor. You have just spent the last four hours rafting through some of the most beautiful and majestic places you have ever seen. Your knowledgeable and experienced guides have set the adventurous, creative and lively tone, while you are still awe-struck by this place. The sounds of rushing water and the fragrance of warm grass and clean air soothe your soul. Then your guide points out a black bear at the river’s edge. She is skittish and risks being seen to stay a moment longer and snatch a wild salmon to feed her hungry cubs. The Bear has broken your concentration but you immerse yourself again, and put the finishing brushstrokes on what you believe to be your most satisfying and moving work.”

Well I have an offer for you of a trip of a lifetime that combines all of those and more. James Sampsel, artist from my last post, has combined forces with Row Adventures (the company that he offers his fly-fishing tours through) to offer a

5 day, 45 mile Wilderness Plein Air Adventure on the Rogue River!!!!!

Where is the Rogue you ask? It is one of the most scenic rivers you will ever see and it is located in the state of Oregon. Unlike our massive rivers in the South you can see across it and the water is crystal clear and teeming with trout. But don’t take my word for it, check out these pictures:

Ok, so how does this work?

Vintage Campers Spotted At Auburn

When Jeff and I were at Auburn we used to love to spend our weekends hiking through these beautiful woods at Chewacla State Park in Auburn. There is a dam that forms a waterfall and people used to swim or go rock hopping. It was a great stress reliever from days on end spent drawing in studio.

Woods walking

Naturally I was intrigued when my photographer friend Robert Fouts said that he was going there last weekend for a campout with people who own vintage campers.

I had visions of old woody cars pulling these cute itsy bitsy campers behind them. I asked him if he would take some shots and share them with me since I knew his camera would be clicking away anyway. He kindly obliged. All images are his. You can see more of his work at  PhotoFouts.com or you can reach him at 334-549-1956.

Now don’t they just look happy to be there! Man and dog.

Do I spy Duck Dynasty on the fridge? 🙂  And check out that old coffee pot. My grandmama used to call it a percolator.

I think this might be Robert’s but I’m not sure.

How cute is it that they carry their own little yards/gardens with them… complete with the infamous pink flamingo.

Something tells me this one had some Grateful Dead in its background. haha

Man! Look at that spread. We missed out.

I will be the first to admit that I am not a camper but it looks like they had a great time, doesn’t it? Any ideas for a non-camping related trip we can all go on together?

Next post we catch up with an old friend who does love to camp. You just MIGHT want to know about his latest adventure. You are invited! Stay tuned.

Design Blogger’s Conference 2014 May I Drop A Few Names? :)

Sunday was the kick-off for a star-studded event that brought designers, bloggers, suppliers and media people from around the country together for a 4 day free for all in the idea sharing department at Design Blogger’s Conference 2014.  And who doesn’t love a good SWAG bag??? They loaded us down.

That’s right y’all. You saw it here first… Domino is back!!!

Domino Magazine

As soon as I entered the beautiful ballroom at The Grand Hyatt, the excitement was at frenzy level and it never let up.

Grand Hyatt Stairwell

I met Jeffrey Johnson and  Leslie Carothers right off the bat. Matching names to well known faces is always a feat at these affairs. I promise not to bore you with every little detail (unless you are a follower on Instagram, then it’s Katy bar the door). I honestly had no idea what to expect but I am SO glad that I went. Funny how quickly you bond with people when you have so much in common. I came home with an entire bouquet of new friends  (warning: we were grabbing whoever was standing near to snap a pic so these are very grainy but still, I will treasure them)

… many of the names and faces you will know.  So without further adieu…. a little name droppin’. LOL

Candice Olson

Yes, Ladies and Gents, that is the one and only Candice Olson! And she is hilarious.

And that is Tobi Fairley. It was predicted last year that she will join the ranks of Oprah and Elvis etc. and will only be known as Tobi.

Save Time For Savannah

cindy barganier Tybee Sleepover

The third day of our Tybee Sleepover bloggers’ trip was spent exploring the gorgeous city of Savannah, Georgia. You  need two days here to really experience it.

You might have seen on the news, there was a terrible fire in a rubber warehouse while we were there.  I have never seen smoke like that.

One of our favorite stores was The Paris Market located in this lovely old building.

Tybee Island Get Ready!

Embedded image permalink

In a mere 48 hours Jenny, Kath , Gayle and I will be seeing this sign!!!!!!!! Woo Hooty Hoo.

Tybee Island Sleepover was the brainchild of Mary Kay Andrews and Rhoda Vickers birthed while enjoying dinner at Kathy’s house during Layla Palmer’s Chapel Market a few months ago. They graciously included us in the plans and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

We are thrilled at the thought of THIS.

cindy barganier

Please, let there be sunshine and no icey rain.

I am especially thrilled to have been included as a newby blogger thrown in with a cast of 20 veterans. Thank you Lord for your favor.

We will be spending 4 days in some of the most desirable cottages Tybee has to over as rentals. The schedule is packed with fun and you can read all about it next week when we return. Each blogger covers a different house to help you plan your next vaca and you KNOW we are going to be talking about food….

and the beach……

and the shopping…….

Oh, and since I am staying at Mary Kay’s house- about UPCOMING BOOKS to read on that beach.

Oh yeah. It’s gonna be fun. Don’t miss it.

You might even get to hear about our private lunch in this little town

BEw3vhkCMAAPLpH

with a certain lady and her sons.   Just maybe. 🙂

To read what Tybee is saying about it today on their Island Blog go here.

The slogan is

“What happens at The Tybee Sleepover gets blasted all over social media.”

so don’t forget to check out Instagram, Twitter and Facebook this weekend.

See ya back here next Tuesday!

Discovering New Places

I have the best hubby in the world- no seriously. He took one look at me during the Enterprise move-in and realizing how tired I was he quietly got on line and found a delightful little bed and breakfast close by and booked it. It happened to have a side porch with my all-time favorite swing overlooking a garden. (They were setting up for a wedding) This is where I had my morning coffee.

Forever Design Blog

The other end of the porch had a bed swing, one of my other favorite things. The painting on the wall is of the house.

Forever Design Blog

I was happy. And FULL – you wouldn’t believe the size of that breakfast. Thank you Sweet Gum Bottom. We enjoyed our stay!

Forever Design Blog

We love to explore new areas. You just never know what you will find. This time we saw a sign for a lodge and played follow the yellow brick  red dirt road to see what that was all about.

We ended up here.

Forever Design Blog

I know, it looks a little spooky but imagine how pretty it will be when all of the azaleas start to bloom. To get to it we had to walk across a long foot bridge. Notice all of the lanterns lining  the  lake swamp.

Forever Design Blog

We loved this charming little bell tower.

Forever Design Blog

It was freeeeezing that morning.

Forever Design Blog

So this was it. They have a huge, I mean huge, room downstairs with a large stone fireplace ( why, oh why! did they add gas logs… that’s criminal) that will probably seat 175 people for dinner.

Technically, the lodge is located in Andalusia, Alabama. If you have hunters in the fam they would love this place. It was a little too much of a man cave for me.

Forever Design Blog

I think we counted 8 bedrooms and baths.

Forever Design Blog

Don’t you have a train light in your hallway? haha

Forever Design Blog

This reminded me of my sweet Granddaddy and made me smile. He would have liked it here.

Forever Design Blog

View out the bedroom window.

Forever Design Blog

So that was that. I love lichen covered logs, don’t you?

Forever Design Blog

Jeff’s mom lived in Andalusia as a child but neither of us had ever been so we decided to check it out before hitting the road … again.

It is a beautiful little town!

Forever Design Blog

It is built on a square which I love.

Forever Design Blog

And on this day there was much going on in the square.

Forever Design Blog

Many important people in town were in jail that day!

Forever Design Blog

But it was for a good cause. 🙂

Forever Design Blog

brrr, I told them that they went to a lot more trouble than we did with our “jail”. All the same, I was happy that I had raised all of my bail money before arriving and could enjoy the limo ride back to work.

Up, Up and Away

As usual, my dreams for the new year  involve travel and this year is no different.

I don’t really think that any of these are in the hopper for 2013 but I do love Realis and Chateaux properties. They have added some new ones. Wanna go with me?

You know, it occurs to me that without my profession none of these beautiful places would exist. It really is an honor and privilege to spend all of my days helping to add beauty to our world.

What is your favorite vacation spot?
