Thank You Southern Hospitality

I met Rhoda from Southern Hospitality at The Chapel Market last year and what a sweet heart she is! Rhoda was one of pioneers of the blogging world so when she emailed me yesterday to say that she was writing a feature on me today you can imagine how honored I was. I haven’t even seen it yet so jump over to Southern Hospitality with me and let’s check it out! Thank you so much Rhoda.

Rhoda is the beautiful blond in front with the black top on. She just looks like she would know a thing or two about Southern Hospitality doesn’t she?

Florida Bound But No Beach Bummin’!

August was our fabric debut month on the Florida panhandle and The Writer and I had a blast!

Here we are clowning it up with the Karen, Cassidy and Lindsay the Lovely Ladies of Lovelace Interiors  in Destin. They are so cute. Get a move on girls. We have houses to finish!

Moving on down the coast I got to work with this cutie on a couple of little girls’ bedrooms. That is always fun!

Yeah Libby Baker! Can’t wait to see what you decided on.

I have no idea what happened to my fun picture with favorite architect Geoff Chick. sad. However, I pulled this picture of his office from his web-site because you simply can’t miss out on this.

geoff

Yep Folks, you saw it right. That is, indeed, a porshe’ parked in the middle the office right beside a Le Corbusier chaise.

Now, the morning that we were there the car had a surf board tied on top of it and Geoff strolled in in shorts and flip flops but then that’s how they  roll on 30A.  I consider Geoff the head of my Dream Team. After all, our first house together was an award winner.

And his wife…………. we don’t have enough time for me to tell you how much I love this Chick. No pun intended.

She was mad at me for taking this picture because “she looked so awful”. Yeah right!! In my dreams I look that awful.

Love you Shawn. smooch.

In case you are unaware she owns the most adorable children’s store on the beach:Fritz and Emme at Rosemary.

Thanks dear, dear 30A for reception. You inspire us to greatness.

xoxo

Cindy

p.s. So sorry I missed out on seeing fellow Auburnite, Erika Powell . She was still out on maternity leave. Enjoy those babies while you can Erika. Trust me, time flies.

New Showrooms Pick Up Fabric Line

We are so pleased to announce that several design firms have asked to carry Cindy Barganier Textiles in their offerings AND that showrooms are beginning to join the team as well.

DSR in Birmingham, Alabama, a “To The Trade Only” showroom, has the complete line for all of you designers in that part of the country.

They sent us some candid shots this morning of how they are displaying the fabrics around the showroom.

Also in Birmingham is “Atmosphere” in the Dr. Pepper district. The general public can buy from sweet Barri.

If you are close to  Huntsville, call Judy J. Howard Interiors.

In Tennessee call Fresh Perspectives Design  in Germantown or

Gift Gourmet and Interiors LLC in Knoxville.

We were invited to spend the day at ADAC a couple of weeks ago to meet with some interested parties. ADAC, The Atlanta Decorative Arts Center, is the high end market for designers around the country and represents the leading brands in the industry.

Ordinary To Extraordinary- Part II

If you missed the beginning of this post click here. Continuing on with our discussion of how to add special touches that take your house to the next level let’s look at some small changes in bathrooms that make a big impact.

Cindy Barganier Interiors

One advantage of working in several states is meeting new builders/artisans and learning from them. I am then able to bring those ideas back and share them with my clients. One thing that we we did in every single house in Florida was some sort of interesting added detail with the marble whether it was the addition of a small ledge just under the mirror or a cornice or corbel like above. It said,  “we care” about the small stuff.

I never tire of special wash basins and a concrete integrated bowl mixed with that faucet and those sconces flanking a sweet shuttered window is a winner in my book.

Cindy Barganier Interiors

My friends over at McAlpine Tankersley are famous for their dark kitchens and baths paired with interesting vessels. I love this ancient looking sink.

And don’t foget about the kitchen when you’re thinking sinks. How I would love to have this one!

While we are in the kitchen, an inexpensive way to take standard base cabinets up a notch is to visit  your local Lowes or Home Depot and buy some stock parts that you can add to the toe kick to give the cabinets a furniture look. This works in bathrooms also and works especially well in renovation projects for starter homes.

I tend to think of powder rooms and butler’s pantries as jewel boxes where you can do something fun and unexpected especially with color but also with other touches that might be too costly to do in a big way but works great in these little areas. For instance think how different this cabinet would look if it just had plain ole glass in the uppers. The Segreta finish is pretty fab, too.

Perhaps you are really in to wine or, like my neighbors, own your own vineyard. Then let your personality shine. You house will literally tell people who you are without you ever saying a word which is really rather neat when you think about it.

Cindy Barganier Interiors

Speaking of jewel boxes! Without the black lacquered walls, ” mirror windows” and the tile rug on the floor this would be just another boring pantry.

Now this idea is a bit controversial. Instead of breaking the visual line of the backsplash tile with unsightly plugs you can install them underneath the wall cabinets which looks great… until you have company and instead of being able to hide the cord behind the coffee pot or the crockpot they are all hanging down from the “ceiling”. LOL

Fabric Winner

taking a look

This has been so much fun. I am forever grateful to Layla and Kevin for the pictures and the post and for introducing us to all of their wonderful readers. I am just thrilled to have met all of you and quite humbled by your kind remarks and your excitement about my first fabric collection. I want you to know that I started responding to each and everyone of you (you blew up my site with over 6,000 emails) but Layla reminded me that by doing that my name went in the drawing each time and I would probably win my own drawing. LOL So just know that I sent happy hearts your way.

Dreams really do come true.

But for now we have some business to attend to don’t we?

Drum roll please!!!!!!

Winner

Liz’s favorite fabric and the one that her pillow will be made from is #20 Springtime Fun-Orange.

This was also the run-away winner as everyone’s favorite.

As Promised… Pro Shots

It is truly amazing the difference a wide angle lens, light umbrellas and …hmmm-know-how make in the results of a picture. Thank you Scott Smith for these beautiful shots.

I still think it is so much fun to see before and after shots -this time with the professional advantage.
