Things I love… Gingerbread Houses!

gingerbread houses

I love gingerbread houses.

Every year I get excited about this time because I know that The Hotel At Auburn’s  chef is preparing his amazing gingerbread village. It is always incredible. When Megan was little we tried a few times to make the ones that come in the little kit. Let’s just say no one would drive around the block to look at it. LOL

These guys are magicians!

I mean look at the detail!

I especially like this one since I think it might be the Grove Park Inn in Ashville…one of my favs.

Making A List And Checking It Twice

It’s that time again! As I prepare to host my extended family for Thanksgiving and help several clients prepare for their gatherings I am making a long list and checking it more than twice.

Making my Thanksgiving list

From My Home Ideas

Since so many families are scattered and only able to gather once during the holidays many are putting at least some of their Christmas decor up for Thanksgiving so that they feel like they were together with their loved ones at Christmas.

To me…. it’s just a good excuse to get going early and celebrate for two whole months! I love Thanksgiving and Christmas!!

How about you? Is that list getting started?

I hope to attempt this look. Thank you Pinterest.

Please Mommie, May I Enter The Contest?

This is partially a repeat  post but I was invited to participate in a link party over at ThriftyDecorChick today showing off Christmas trees and tree number 1 just really wanted to attend so like any good Mommie I said,”OK.”

We finished stage one of our work on the Idlewild dining room and decided to roll with the forest theme for the Christmas decor. We had a blast. See what you think.

Christmas decor

As we imagined our forest friends that would be playing in the scenery painted on the walls we began to add them to the tree.

There are nests filled with Robin and Sparrow eggs. There are angels made of pinecones.

There had to be cute little scurrying critters.

They made their way up on the chandelier so that they could spy on the reindeer grazing at the side board.

Say It Ain’t So

I absolutely cannot believe it. I spent a half an hour today working out the schedule for getting client’s homes decorated for Christmas. Didn’t I just do that last week?

Time must be compressed!
