It’s Tuesday, No It’s Monday, No It’s…….

Do you ever feel like things are creeping up on you? LOL

Like you seriously need to pull out all of the calenders and cross reference because you are pretty darn sure you have forgotten sometime like the birth of a child or your own wedding? Yeah, me too.

I better be figuring it out before those Dudes get me.

It’s OK. I know it all has to do with this:

Dreams come a size too big

So that we can grow into them.

Ordinary To Extraordinary- Part II

If you missed the beginning of this post click here. Continuing on with our discussion of how to add special touches that take your house to the next level let’s look at some small changes in bathrooms that make a big impact.

One advantage of working in several states is meeting new builders/artisans and learning from them. I am then able to bring those ideas back and share them with my clients. One thing that we we did in every single house in Florida was some sort of interesting added detail with the marble whether it was the addition of a small ledge just under the mirror or a cornice or corbel like above. It said,  “we care” about the small stuff.

I never tire of special wash basins and a concrete integrated bowl mixed with that faucet and those sconces flanking a sweet shuttered window is a winner in my book.

My friends over at McAlpine Tankersley are famous for their dark kitchens and baths paired with interesting vessels. I love this ancient looking sink.

And don’t foget about the kitchen when you’re thinking sinks. How I would love to have this one!

While we are in the kitchen, an inexpensive way to take standard base cabinets up a notch is to visit  your local Lowes or Home Depot and buy some stock parts that you can add to the toe kick to give the cabinets a furniture look. This works in bathrooms also and works especially well in renovation projects for starter homes.

I tend to think of powder rooms and butler’s pantries as jewel boxes where you can do something fun and unexpected especially with color but also with other touches that might be too costly to do in a big way but works great in these little areas. For instance think how different this cabinet would look if it just had plain ole glass in the uppers. The Segreta finish is pretty fab, too.

Perhaps you are really in to wine or, like my neighbors, own your own vineyard. Then let your personality shine. You house will literally tell people who you are without you ever saying a word which is really rather neat when you think about it.

Cindy Barganier Interiors

Speaking of jewel boxes! Without the black lacquered walls, ” mirror windows” and the tile rug on the floor this would be just another boring pantry.

Now this idea is a bit controversial. Instead of breaking the visual line of the backsplash tile with unsightly plugs you can install them underneath the wall cabinets which looks great… until you have company and instead of being able to hide the cord behind the coffee pot or the crockpot they are all hanging down from the “ceiling”. LOL

They Will Soar With Wings Like Eagles

This is Amazing. It is no wonder there are

scriptural references to the eagle!

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I

did.

And there is no wonder the bald eagle has

such a significant symbolism to our country.

When it rains,

most birds head for shelter.

The eagle is the only bird that, in order

to avoid the rain,

starts flying above the

clouds.

An amazing tidbit about the Eagle’s

eyesight: The eagle can probably identify a rabbit moving almost a

mile away.Meaning, an eagle flying at an altitude of 1000 feet

over open country could spot prey over an area of almost 3 square

miles from a fixed position.

No wonder God wants us to spread our

wings and soar with eagles.

Let’s keep REACHING this year to see where God’s grace will take us

My Word For The Year

My friend, Layla, has a “word for the year”. I thought it was such a neat idea that I adopted it. Then Tobi Fairley adopted it from me then…. well, let’s just say it is spreading rapidly. So here we are with a linky party for all of our words. You should join us!

My word is REACH and it has great meaning for me this year.

I have so many goals, dreams, ambitions all of which are stretching me to REACH them.

I have health goals that I must reach in order to have the stamina to do all of the things I want to do. Tobi has been my inspiration here as she has hit the mark in a big way with her “I’m getting healthy and fit no matter what it takes attitude last year.” She did it too!

I have career goals that require that I reach out to others for help.

reach out

I get so excited when I can help a friend reach a goal that at first seemed so unattainable. I have to remember that it is a blessing for others to do the same for me.

There are so many promises out there just waiting for us to reach out in child-like faith and take them.

reach for the promises

Therefore, this year I will reach out  a compassionate hand to help those that are hurting.

reaching ou

I will reach out to new friends for who knows where that might lead.

reach out and connect

I will reach for the stars and really go after what I want.

reach for the stars

And I will do it all with a sense of abandonment that comes from a heart of joy because “the joy of the Lord is my strength”.

reach wildly

What about you? Who has inspired you to live a richer life and what word says it all for you this year?

Where Do You Get Your Ideas?

People are forever asking me  this question, “Where do you get your ideas?”

What they really want to know is: what is the source of your inspiration?

I realize that saying “God” is a very trite sounding answer but that is the truth.

He opens my eyes when I ask and this is what I see:

blade

and then

from Dan Heller might come this.

The subway ceilings in Sweden would inspire anyone.

Creation never fails to inspire.

And when I “happen upon” this you know you are going to be seeing color soon from Cindy.

It is true that inspiration is everywhere and for a designer travel is not just something that is fun to do

it is vitally necessary for the process.

Travel is rest for my soul and food for my eyes.

It breaks open my box and forces me to see things in a different way.

It introduces me to new…… everything!

Thanks for asking. The very question makes me happy.

Appetizers

I have a friend who NEVER goes out to eat without ordering a couple of appetizers for the table.

He is fun to go out with.

So heading into the weekend I thought I would give you a little appetizer, a teaser, a tasty treat of what’s to come.

Here is the new Watercolor house in coming out of the ground.

A little more framing goes up…

And believe it or not these are my original inspirations for the interiors.

We will see if they pan out.
